On June 30, SpaceX launched 88 satellites into orbit on its second dedicated small-satellite "patchwork" mission, "Transporter-2," on a Falcon 9 rocket in Florida. So far this year, SpaceX has launched nearly 900 satellites into space.
According to reports, the mission, called Transporter-2, SpaceX used eight-handed Falcon 9 rocket boosters to send 88 microsatellites into scheduled orbit, including five satellites from the U.S. Department of Defense, 80 satellites from nine other different companies or entities, as well as three SpaceX's own Starlink Internet satellites. With the completion of this mission, SpaceX has sent nearly 900 microsatellites into orbit so far this year.
